November 2001:
"The Joint", Zak's new movie, has been released in both video and DVD formats, and is now available on this site in both formats.  However, "The Journey Back" DVD is still in progress with no firm date yet set for it's release.  The DVD of "The Joint" has all kinds of extra features and commentary, including the only interview ever done with Zak where he had a goatee!

Zak had to cancel his appearance at Will Clark's "Cocktail's with the Stars" at Micky's bar in West Hollywood on October 11, 2001 due to unforeseen circumstances - he has been rescheduled to appear on the 29th of November 2001.

October 2001:
"The Joint", Zak's new movie, has had its release pushed back to October 11, 2001, to enable more time to get the DVD release ready, as the video and DVD will be released simultaneously.  At the same time, the release of the DVD for "The Journey Back" will happen.  Both movies will continue to be available autographed by Zak on this website in the Zak Sale pages.

Zak attended the Folsom Street Fair leather festival in San Francisco at the end of September 2001.

Zak will be the featured guest star at Will Clark's "Cocktail's with the Stars" at Micky's bar in West Hollywood on October 11, 2001 - so come down and meet him!  As well, Zak's co-star in his new movie, "The Joint", Erik Mann, will be at the "Cocktail's with the Stars" on October 4.

August 2001:
Zak's latest movie, "The Joint" will be officially released on September 28, 2001 - in both video and DVD format.  At the same time, his last movie "The Journey Back" will be released in DVD format.  The DVD's will have many advanced features, including commentary and extra scenes.  Advance autographed copies of the video "The Joint" are now available for sale through this website.

May 2001:
Zak Spears next movie, "The Joint", will be released in September 2001.

Zak will be attending International Mr. Leather 2001 in Chicago at the end of the month (Memorial Day weekend), as well as the Chicago Gay Film Awards, the 2001 Grabbys.

April 2001:
Zak Spears has just completed filming of his newest movie, "The Joint".  It is directed by Jim Steel, starring Zak Spears, and featuring Erik Mann, Buddy Jones, Chad Johnson, Drew Peters and Alec Martinez, among others.  The opening scene will be a continuation from "The Journey Back", with Zak getting double-fucked in the subway.  Zak and Alec Martinez are arrested for public lewd conduct, and sent to prison.  The prison is run by a tough warden, and a hard-ass guard (played by Erik Mann) who becomes infatuated with Zak.  Zak is very excited about the film, as it gave him an opportunity to show off a little of the darker side of his character.  He feels it is the best film that he's done, and his best work since "The Wild Ones".  The video will be released in the fall.

At the GayVN awards, "The Journey Back" won for the Best Overall Marketing Campaign.  Zak attended to pick up his award for being inducted to the Hall of Fame.

February 2001:
Zak Spears' new movie, "The Journey Back", has been nominated for EIGHT awards at the 2001 GayVN Awards:  Best Actor (Zak Spears), Best Group Scene (Zak Spears, Nino Bacci, Alec Martinez, Jackson Price, Mark Rockwell), Best Music (Anthony Cox), Best Overall Marketing Campaign (Men of Odyssey), Best Screenplay (Jim Steel), Best Sex Scene (Zak Spears and Kyle Kennedy), Best Threesome (Caesar, Anthony Cox, Tony Donovan), and Best Videography (Hue Wilde).  Several of Zak's co-stars in the "Journey Back" were also nominated for awards, for Best Newcomer (Caesar, Kyle Kennedy, Jackson Price) and for Gay Performer of the Year (Nino Bacci, Caesar, Jackson Price, Logan Reed).  Also, Zak Spears will be inducted into the GayVN Hall of Fame.

The production company is currently working on the DVD version of "The Journey Back" - which will include extra footage, an interview with Zak, and a director's cut with the directors describing each scene of the movie.  Release of the DVD is currently scheduled for the fall of 2001, likely at the same time as the release of the sequel, "The Joint".  "The Joint" has had its filming schedule moved ahead from May 2001 to the end of March.

Also, Zak will be appearing at the Bad Boys Pool Party - Palm Springs Edition at the end of March.  It's a great charity, and a great opportunity to get to meet Zak!

Autographed copies of the new Zak movie, "Zak Spears - The Journey Back" can now be purchased through this site - see the Zak Sale pages.  Zak will be featured in an upcoming issue of Torso magazine - with a photo layout and an interview.  Zak has signed up for his second movie - the sequel to "The Journey Back" - which is to be called "Zak Spears - in The Joint".  Jim Steel will be directing, and this film will feature a "darker" side of Zak's personality.  Zak has been been hitting the gym with a vengeance, and is now down to a fighting weight of 218 lbs (100 kg) - so look forward to a ripped and nasty Zak in the new feature!
